Does restarting my computer stop the Selenium java process from running?

Updated: Nov 26

Yes, restarting your computer will stop the Selenium Java process from running. When you restart, all active programs and processes, including the Java process running automation, are terminated. After your computer restarts, you’ll need to manually launch your IDE and start the PKD run again to resume your automation tasks.

You can also manually stop the Java process without restarting your computer. Here’s how:

On Windows:

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.

  2. Go to the Processes tab (or Details tab in some versions).

  3. Look for a process named java.exe or javaw.exe.

  4. Select it and click End Task to stop the process.

On Mac:

  1. Open the Activity Monitor (search for it using Spotlight or find it in Applications > Utilities).

  2. In the search bar, type Java to find the process.

  3. Select the Java process and click the X button in the top-left corner to force quit.

This will immediately stop the PKD automation run.
